RSS Feeds explain 09/08/2011
So I use rss feeds quite a bit. I have feeds for Pittsburgh Websites, Colorado Websites, Telluride Websites, Graphic Design Websites, and some other random ones. I also have one for my brother DanO McManO. This video explains how to use them and set them up. The only difference between what he does and what I do is I create an RSS folder, then place all of my RSS bookmarks into that folder, rather than a separate RSS bookmark for each RSS feed I subscribe to. This helps keep the Safari Bookmark Bar clean and clutter free. (See photos below.) There will be no number next to my RSS folder or the Websites I subscribe to since I just read all of them. Also, look to the right on my text right now. You will see Author, Archives, Categories, and at the very bottom, you will see a tiny orange symbol with RSS Feed next to it. When you see that on a website, that is a good indication that the website supports RSS feeds. Click it
Interesting story about this journal entry by a young African pastor before he was martyred: During the Fall of 2010, my wife was part of a Beth Moore bible study offered by our church, Vineyard Christian Church. After one meeting she brought home this note:
I'm part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power.
My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problems recognizing me - my banner will be clear!
The other day, while finishing my thesis paper, I took a break to read over the note that I hadn't read last fall. It spoke to me more last night than when I initially read it. It speaks volumes to devotion of others to Christ and His mission. It makes me want to devote my life even more to Christ and live by His command. Just last night I had a dream. Wow, big whoop, right? Ask my wife - I rarely remember dreams, so it is a big deal! I did remember this one though. I was either part of or looking into a group of people reciting this note. Not sure if it was more of a flash forward or a just my mind remember the note I read. I guess I'll find out someday.
On another note, Adam Young from Owl City, has many lyrics that make me believe he is a Christian. Take, for example the lyrics of his song Galaxies, off the album All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Dear God, I was terribly lost
When the galaxies crossed
And the sun went dark.
But dear God, You're the only North Star
I would follow this far.
Is Adam Young part of the fellowship of the unashamed? Are you?
On a closing note, this verse often haunts me and goes along quite well with my theme today of devotion to Our Father:
Luke 9:23 (NIV)
23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

I've been editing my thesis (titled above) and I need a break - just a short one. I love Colorado and nearly everything about it.The food is amazing, the people are friendly, and the activities are endless. God is present with me wherever I am, but I presence hits me like a freight train when I am in Colorado. Last night, during a Professional Practice course (I hope my prof doesn't read this...) I created a little ditty for my desktop background as well as my phone background. Oh, I need to mention - I LOVE APPLE PRODUCTS. On top of their sleekness, they just always work!
So, here's my combination of Apple and Colorado:
Pretty cool, right? Oh, and major props to my buddy Craig who noticed that I had centered the apple rather than offset it like on the flag. I guess I should state that I also enjoy graphic design, and hopefully will be able to bring that into so branding for Arch4t. Who knows. We'll see what God wants me to do with that talent he gave me.
Well, back to thesis. This little blog post was enough to reenergize me to tackle the scarred landscape of Colorado!

Greetings all! With DanO departing to WisCAHNsin (apparently Ohioans have accents to Wisconsinites...) I am starting my final year in my graduate studies in Architecture at Miami University. This whole year I will be working on my architectural thesis titled Beyond the Landscape of Extraction: Place- Making in Colorado's Post Extraction Landscape. As DanO knows, my passions are Our Lord, His manifestation on Earth, and Skiing. During the thesis paper process, I wrote a sentence that speaks volumes to me. In an academic setting, I had to put emphasis on the term 'nature' however, I truly mean The Lord.
The sentence is:
“Nature is the conductor and I, the orchestra. It will lead me to where I need to be, see me through crescendos and decrescendos of everyday life, to which I am indebted to it.”
Looks at the colors around you next time you're walking through a park. Look at the millions of species of plants and animals across the globe. How many coincidences happen to you on a daily basis that make you say, "Wow, that was weird?" How can you deny His existence when you are surrounded by His manifestation everyday? That right there inspires me to write my thesis on how we preserve His work, His gift to us.
I hope to be using this blog as a way to display the work I am creating during my final year of Grad School. Who knows where my wife, Megan, and I will end up when I'm done here at Miami. I guess the Lord will reveal it when He is ready!
As a final note, DanO the ManO, GOD BLESS YOU on your God driven journey out to Wisconsin. You will do incredible things up there and meet GREAT people. Keep an open mind on all things and LET HIM FLOW.
